wot no sunday with psyco i neeed my kung fu
13th july/ missed nearly an hour of training because of the traffic got home 6.40 left for training 6.55 got to training 7.45ish usually takes 8mins.
got straight in to the deep end with sifu psyco.learned a bit tried it in work but can`t convince the ginge that it works.he said he`s gonna come training soon and show master splinter how kung-fu doesn`t work when somone really wants to hit you.(can`t wait)
stu fu says sunday at `metalwork` was another experience of sifu adrians brand of freestyle i got floored by a 13 year old girl and had to sit out for 5 to recover but i suppose thats a good reality to have.As sifu adrian says anyone can hurt anyone if they get a lucky shot even himself(i don`t think that includes sifu master he has eyes in back of head and arse and he can use the force)strange to see some weird form of karate be soft to overcome hard i`m told but karate is the dark side isn`t it but then again it was being modified to suit our kungfuey angle.
No training thursday so it`s a whole week to heal.I`m sure sifu pysco will have some stress to relieve by sunday maybe captain stretch will come and he can be his gimp and i`ll watch
stu-fu says:Bumped in to a friend in tesco after training tonight,she had her arm in a cast,her girlbully brother grabbed her by the throat and hit her about a bit,she fell and done her arm/wrist. Tonights lessons just happened to include a lot of throat grabbing.I`ve asked her to come along before……..if she had come her brother would have the cast on and no teeth.She says she`s gonna come when her arms fixed.We`ll see.
Took a few deep impacts tonite but it`s ok cause captain stretch says it`s good conditioning work. Not that it matters because `my kung-fu is strong` so watch out sifu psyco i comin to get u, and julians gonna back me up.
stu-fu says:i took big kelly and juls to metalwork in aberdare sunday it`s really cool when the kids learn lethal strikes for the playground (joking) no the kids learn so far and the big kids learn to take it a little further.It ended up with just me and jul training with the big bear `sticky hands` made us sweat and gag for air but sifu wasn`t puffin i was waiting for him to turn in to morpheus and say the words `is that air your breathing`.Juls was a little scared on the way up but now he`s dead keen to go again,bummer is he learns a lot faster than me. i`ll have to give him a limp to take home on thursday,just have to be careful the master don`t see me bully him
stu-fu says:tonights lesson was a step back to basics,which is refreshing because i think i can do them a little easier now.lots of new faces too and question askers as well.It`ll be interesting to see how many will stick it out after they`ve had their first taste of some `chi`penetrate their ribcage and bounce around inside.Or maybe a little froghopping and duckwalking will sort the wheat from the chaff.
Still can`t get my head around freestyle form practice,i need somone in front of me as an attacker to focus my direction/deflection stuff.
Aberwhere on sunday and maybe the master is guest starring,lucky i got no bruises tonight.Jul says he`s comin and i`ll probly bring big kelly,it`s never to soon to teach a youngster to be the hardest in the park.even a 5yr old
Stu Fu, a lot more freestyle form practice for you from now on then!!!! I’ll explain it to you next lesson very slowly just for you. Another lesson based on a Stu fu question.

when making a defensive block why not hurt your attacker using a defensive block,then
add your own attack perhaps targeting some pressure points (gall bladder 20 a favourite)whilst yor attacker is coming to terms with the imminent lack of consciuscnous you`re also at the same time using a kick block/attack to the kneecap/nuts/thigh/shin etc to also stop them in their tracks.whatever happened to rules,truth is there are none.when somone wants to smash your face in their not worried how much it`s gonna hurt you.do it to them first preferably leave no marks when they wake up they may not even remember what they are doing there. look forward to thursday.

stu-fu says:some tan from the bear sunday night in aberdare ,sifu adrian added a little more to thursdays lesson reguarding the `tan` block incoorperating pressure point strikes and short distance strikes.quite painful and very fast.an attacker would be shocked in to retreat by the suprise factor,and unless stupid would think twice before making another move.

Training and learning different techniques somtimes raise questions as to `would that really work`or `what if i just do this with my elbow or punch with my other hand`.If you need to learn you have to ask and then be shown,It usually hurts but then you have a real understanding of somthing that otherwise you just take as spoken word which just is`nt the same as a more realistic experience.

Anyway as for Master Kemp and Hanshi Benfell they`ve overtaken sifu morgan and sifu adrian as the hardest blokes i know they don`t need viagra eye drops to `look hard`. You would never believe these two ordinary lookin middle aged blokes where so secretly `dangerous`.It`s encouraging to know that if you are willing to learn and make the effort to train,you don`t have to be 6`6 20st to be able to defend yourself and your family.I wan`t tuition from these guys as often as i could but they live a zillion miles away from me,so we`ll have to get them down again.this time a hotel that does a good brekkie (i know just the place)
I tried to take in as much as i could on the day but kung fu is a lot to learn,what i do remember is i enjoyed the day and look forward to it again,and who knows if somone attacks me may be i`ll get a flashback and pinch that nerve under the armpit or just deflect them so softly or just hook out an eye as master kemp enlightened me.
Stu-fu says: Sifu morgan was in an angry mood on thursday,it was scary.Me and big bear sifu talked about it a little and we both concluded it was really cool.
The backs of my hands are still a bit scabby from pounding the medicine ball,but it`s ok cos i`m tuff.
Also worth a mention is the fact i`ve stopped aching now,it`s only been 5 days (i think i`m developing a resistance to physical abuse).
I was having a little trouble understanding the concept of the muscle memory training this time,the focus of which was to try and keep a bent elbow (flexability in striking/blocking) as opposed to long reach twist hips.Sifu morgan explained we would use both and more of a multitude of different blocks/strikes/movements/kicks,you must learn lots so you can utilise your knowledge to suit an ever changing situation. i think thats what he meant.
Gutted ,missed course due to transport complications the big bear says it was brilliant. He got some good stuff to use on me on thursday.i`m lookin forward to it as i`ve missed my regular dose of big bear pain today.Tommorrow won`t feel like a monday without a limp.i`ll feel like i lost a day.
I GOT TO BE ON THE NEXT COURSE
was a really good course today. the 5 minutes of Chan style that we did was worth the trip alone, although i enjoyed the day as a whole. i think i can speak for the aberdare massive when i say we’re looking forward to the next course. and i hear that there’ll be an all day Chan style course in june if we’re lucky.
my back and legs are aching now though so im off in the bath to soak them.

I’m still having trouble putting the chan style together, and as ricky says it was worth the trip alone, was also good 2 av a bash with the swords 2. I thought i was lucky yesterday when my back wasnt hurting but it’s all caught up with me now
Hopefully sifu ade will have recovered from his huge sugar rush by thursday. Cant wait for the next seminar where ever it is. I’d also like to thank the instructors and ricky for driving us there.

The importance of being able to defend yourself on the ground can`t be taken for granted and the only way to prepare for such events should they happen is to get down and ruck on the floor.now most people might think ;go down throw punches grab roll around job done.maybe,but add proper technique `soft` movement don`t waste position manipulate sensitive areas eg eyes nuts armpits neck even one of big sifu`s optionals for more favoured students(arse).get a choke on and it`s pretty much over.
And my elbows hurt!
most the stuff we done on the floor last night was the jujistu we were taught by Master Kemp on sunday.
i wont be able to train next thursday cause im workin lates. triv’s got a car now though so he might be able to take sifu phsyco down.

Big sifu`s class on sunday was enlightening but thinking about it what if i swung my stick low to dead leg him first.I shall have to test my theory on him next sunday as big kelly starts crying when i hit him with a big stick and weez will shout at me.
haha, poor big kell, sum 1 correct me if i’m wrong but it shudn make much difference because the arch of the swing will be so small, not only tha they’d still have to “prime thier swing” so it’s the same opening anyways.

nice to see people using the website once again thank you for your comments about chan style even though it was basic soft style I apologise for being injured that weekend and could not beat anybody up(I am joking or am I) will to see you all soon so you can do six minutes and cry like babies lol people say that kung fu is to soft and does not work don’t believe that as people can testify once they have been on the receiving end anyway hope to see you all soon keep up the good work listen well train hard and try not toget hit too many times.

Sunday metalwork with Sifu big bear `weird chun` create opening pre emptive sumthin.was`nt keen at first but i could see an use for quick and nasty close stuff.Putting on a headguard was a little daunting as Sifu was putting on a glove with a slither of padding,but the really freaky thing was Sifu putting a blindfold on and have us attempt a takedown and submission on him.Then it was our turn!. To be honest the hardest one was a girl,they just know where your eyes and nuts are even blindfolded.

thursday was good, nice to do things off short quick footwork. did anyone else get like a snake feel out of it or was it just me?
im glad you got a taste of the headguard stu. you can see now that saying things like “yeah, but i could smash u in the nuts and hit u with a right hook” dont really apply when you’re getting smashed around the head.
i’ll soften slim up for you 2nite aswell stu, get some jaegermeisters down him so he’s in no fit state to kick ass 2morro.

sorry stu ricky could not do what he set out to do lastnite so i was still able 2 do a little bit of damage.thanks lads 4 turning up 2nite after a nite out on the beer.ill try and do sum classical and sum reality training each week. cant wait for june now to see what master kemp will have us doing…is it just me or is anyone else worried about the crying like girls in 6mins comment or should i say FACT !!! and it will probably be only 2 mins…. cu thursdays guys………

Stu-fu says:Tricky i think your right about that snake feel it seems natural that short sharp footwork would work best with the small sharp movements of the snake, monkey may be small movement somtimes but it`s so random and violent it would seem to restrictive for that animal style,crane maybe with clipped wings,leopard tiger both cats do they use short footwork i don`t think so.The only way to check up on this is to ask sifu 1 or sifu 2 but i`m wiling to bet 10pence the answer would involve `combining`.
I`m not sure if i like the small movement stuff the pro`s for me are i`m hopeless moving distance quickly so i should benefit from short steps but the cons are being in close quarters with people like 1 or 2 and then your in the shit!.
Aberware sunday the boys failed in their attempt to supply enough beer to the big boy saturday night and in turn he still had `powers`available to dispense `pain` like MR.T

hi all and (stu-fu) Chinese boxing or shorthand boxing is very effective small steps most of the time does work, but the simple fact you can be sneaky. people cannot see that you are getting into a prime position of strength working in close means that people who are not used to fighting, (so called hardcases) cannot defend themselves until it is too late. so practice doing small steps, crossovers, and making your body smaller you have more power coming up than down this will help you develop your inner strength. So even you can get your head around it(haHa) just kidding practised smile movement with your feet by example standing on people’s feet tapping the ankle joint striking the calf and lower leg taking out shoulders and arms and hands you have two get in to using short stances try doing it naturally don’t think just do it is easier any questions please asked me see you all soon master kemp

Master kemp what do you mean by stronger coming up than down? could it be that you can use all your stance and body muscle energy pushing upward as opposed to gravity and perhaps less available muscle derived energy i`m not sure if i`m making any sense now,can you explain?

i got stuck down swansea yesterday. apparently im my sisters new “man with a van” except i dont have a van.
i think Master Kemp means that maybe starting from a low position and attacking upwards will gain more strength. im learning that true strength comes from a solid footwork. like sifu morgan says, “if you build a house you start with a foundation”.
seems to me like you can have the hardest/fastest hands in the world but if you cant move your feet to get into a prime position you’ll never be able to strike as hard as you potentially can.
in which case stu, if you wanna fill the big fella in, start with his legs and take his balance. easier said than done i know, but i wanna see you try anyway
correct ricardo… stu you will have to practice fast small steps and stances..years ago when i first started practacing kempo i thought that upperbody strength was the most important and was taught that. Then one day i met sifu keith and winford and my opinion rapidly changed because i could’nt get close enough quick enough to do any damage…when they let me get close enough ( eventually ) i found i couldnt really do much coz i never had the correct angle or distance to throw the big bombs…I made the choice to stop the heavy weights and concentrate on my kung fu footwork and stances to try and get sum real power and self defence ability,thankfully that paid off and i really learn something everytime i train thanks to my great teachers and students… cu all on sunday and thursday.. anyone interested in going to seni 08 on the 27 april let me know… big sifu..
Hi stu-fu (all) a very brief history lesson, when I start a gung fu (kung fu) the first thing, I learnt was to build my legs muscles not of kicking not of blocking but for running away faster, that was the first thing I learnt only an idiot stands and fights, but I had a lot more power of kicking and blocking, If needed to building my shins so they were like knives so I would cut my opposition training was a lot harder in the old days if your stances were weak your Kicks and body movement was slow so you would get punished and I do not mean push-ups or situps and I mean you got a slap. So Stuart to answer your question your legs should be the strongest part of your attack and your defence you are stronger punching kicking blocking coming up not down using your legs means using of the body i hope this answers your question if not asked sifu Morgan the question because it was the first thing I explained to him and his fighting skills improved overnight.

Attacking in an upwards angle could really suck for me, because i got to get down before i can get back up, oh well better get working on the ever classical scissor stance. btw can i asume i’m driving to seni? because ricky drove last year an i’ve already said i’ll drive.
Stu-fu says:Master kemp I will ask sifu 1 and sifu 2 for their instruction on leg/body strengh i`m sure both have some good stuff `take the best leave the rest` i`m sure i`ve heard that in a film,but are we talking the weights room or somthing more unusual.Does various stances with extra weight help.I do try to change the way i move now to incooperate stretcing and stance eg instead of raising are car ramp i`ll drop to wide horse to fit a wheel,twist hips to reach somthing rather than move closer etc.Are these small things worthwhile or not enough to be significant.I don`t really want to go to the gym to lift weights it`s boring and makes `bigger targets` i think is the phrase.
Rickster you get stuck in places like aberwhere ,you get invited to stay in swansea. Theres a difference. Also you were probly 10 mins walk from my house on thursday,i`d have given you a lift in the back off my truck!

Good metalwork though,it seems for me the simple stuff stays in my head longer and i just don`t realise,or act on it.blockstrike not two words or actions just one.That hookpunch block no real good unless you strike back quick.even better same time, then thinking about it most blocks work best the same way.The start of First form is`nt block strike it`s blockstrike.Must practice moving in dual format+upward motion training including leg stance work.
you mist the point about the hook punch block stu..if you just stand there you will get hit about but if you drop your weight into it like i done to daf it hurts him instead, the strike comes at the same time and stops anything else coming for a second so you can either finish him or run away..as for no aching legs try doing the scissors steps instead of trying to break them down slowly.ha ha at this point stu fu less thinking and more doing ok….. cu thursday ok…

sifu 1 i`m really aching and it`s great.
my knuckles are a little grazed. its all that vaseline intensive care ive been putting on them. i enjoyed training last night. im liking training with that strapping young lad from aspers aswell, helps to boost the old ego when you can sling people like him and slim around. no training for a week now. shall have to give my bag a good going over on thursday, and sunday i’ll get a few strongbows down me and give the woman a good thrashing to keep her in her place.

Stu-fu, You build your legs every time you take a step, if you step correctly,(when using the wooden blocks- the brush etc). But there are lots of little exercise available that can get your legs built up, which now that you have asked “YOU WILL GET TO DO” , so that you come down the stairs on the cheeks of your butt. Sometimes you learn more by sitting back and watching, rather than running in, or saying something without thinking. I do read all the comments on our site, take on board what is said by whom, and what they say. It is nice to know you are using the site, thanks Stu -Fu and gareth for setting it up. sunday session was really good. straightening your leg out and smashing some ones head into the mat is so harsh, but so effective. was well impressed with that. its intresting to take sport techniques and make them more effective through, well, cheating basically.

1.To start i should point out i`ve had no other kung-fu styles so chan shin ga do plus sifu 1 and sifu 2 `s mods and extras are the only kung-fu i know.As for why; a few reasons which firstly seem obvious eg fitness,self defence,learning somthing different, but i could go to a gym learn to box and read a book for the same reasons.I don`t look for fights i`m not out to be the hardest i`m not interested,but i do wan`t to have the choice to defend my family and friends should i need to.I like to learn the deeper meaning of `form` self defence being a side effect of martial art.The small simple things suprising you.The `internal` art being strong without `strength`.
It`s hard but learning keeps you focused in life.Without goals to achieve you are limited.I don`t really know what i want from kung-fu but if i did and i got it would it limit what i want?is that weird.
2.Patience,it does`nt upload to your brain through a wire`apparantly` ,it takes a long time.I have no time scale in place to meet targets of achievment i`ll just keep going for as long as my teachers will teach me.
3.Random answer but i`ll go for `breathing` not just that in and out stuff you learned as a child,i mean proper controlled breathing in `form` or technique using the most basic tool to it`s capacity only i have a very limited knowledge of how but sifu morgan seems to think its important.

hmmmm, this is intresting. kinda paranoid about getting the answers “wrong” though. oh well, here goes:
1. what do i want from from kung fu?
id like to learn an effective form of self defense so that i can defend myself, friends and family, but also learn classical forms and techniques so that i can improve my technique. similar to what stuart said, i could go kickboxing or do mma, but they’re all very hard and limited in what they have to offer.
2. what the first thing i should learn?
in think respect is very important to learn. when i first started training with sifu bessant and sifu morgan i didnt understand why i wasnt punching pads 500 times or running for 20mins every session, and why i was sweeping floors in horse stance and liffting weights in bizzare fashions. but i quickly learnt to respect my sifus because what they taught me as it ended up improving my kung fu.
3. what part is used all the time in kung fu?
however un-original it seems, im gonna have to go with stu-fu on this one. seems that breathing is very important when it comes to building internal strength. correct breathing seems to help you absorb strikes aswell as giving some bad ass ones back aswell.
Cant imagine there’s a definate answer to any of these questions, but what the hey.
What do you want from kung fu?
This is something that changes all the time, i’ve always liked to do different things and kung fu is very different from most other martial arts. As for being able to defend myself i’ve always had a natural talent for avoiding trouble, as ricky says i “fly under the radar”. my luck will run out one day.
What should be the first thing you learn?
Not quite sure but the first thing i needed to learn was to trust who was teaching me, it took me a while to relax and both sifu bessant and sifu morgan noticed. If you cant trust and respect the people teaching you you’ll be going no where
What part is used all the time in kung fu?
I cant believe no ones gone for the brain, or most specificly your mind. If you dont think about what your doing in a training session then your jus gonna stand there like a melon. When watching the demonstation pay close attention to the foot work and the hands. Then when you practice yourself you should think your movments and repeated them until it’s just muscle memory, this will then turn into instinct so you dont have to think about what your doing and you can focus on a slightly bigger picture, e.g how many people are around you? make sure you dont use execive violence…..
ok sorry i think i’ve just writen an essay, not answered a question. Talking of chan style when is the seminar? I’m going on holiday in july, it will be heart breaking if i cant be there

ive been practicing my forms a lot lately. found a nice quiet place in some local playing fields. get the odd old person walking their dog looking at me a bit stupid but its all good.
im looking forward to the all day chan style now, i want to try an iron out the creases from the 1st chan style form. i think ive got the basics of it, just need to tweek the foot placements now because if ive learnt anything from training its the difference between moving your feet just an inch, sometimes not even that.

i spent 2 hours doing a david carradine dvd last nite. the kung fu part was easy but the tai chi part was quite hard. i combined it with the whole breathing excerise we do(inhale push your stomach out, exhale suck it in)
my guts are aching like a bee-atch today. looking forward to thursday now then im off to sunny sunny turkey for a week.
gonna see if i can find somewhere to train out there. does turkey have a traditional martial art?
Stu-fu says:two simple blocks tan/fook why waste anything.Lets add joint manipulation (painfull abuse) i think these two were soft forms of the technique but later with the knives i`m sure the same blocks changed to hard form,became more of a strike block technique? both ways hurt,soft stuff tends to move your opponent but include a little stance work and then you can really stretch em. Wide horse means very little but sore legs on its own,but using it in form oh yeh thats right! . interesting warm up i love the impossible exersises stretch out then stretch 6 inches further wtf .And Riddick i did say Sifu Morgan`s not interested in how many press ups any of us can do. He only want`s us to do one,…. his way. and my elbow hurts.
i got a lot out of last nights training. really enjoyed it, although i didnt get to abuse stuart.
i was thinking along the same lines as stuart. i thought that hard blocks were the only was to disarm an opponent, but sifu morgan showed me a nice jujitsu/chin na technique that worked well.
i also learnt 2 keep the knife in view, when you cant see what their doing with the knife, it makes it a hell of a lot more difficult.

A good days learning ,expected sifu1 -2 to get a little nervous instead of me though.
I like the way the chan edge sharpens your tools, although learning the forms i found really difficult to take in.But thats not to say i didn`t enjoy doing them because they looked very focused and meaningfull when done with a little flow,and thats somthing i like to watch so to be able to do it myself would be fairly cool.
How important are the relax and breath parts of training?even when your not really tired?
And why do sticky hands always stick to my face?
Whats the chan history/story i don`t know if it`s relevant but it sounds interesting,why the secrecy surrounding it.

Sifu 2 somthin i thought about sunday night,somtimes when you roleplay a big nasty man, an aggressive grab a bit of offensive verbal to demonstrate a real life situation i find that most of what i`ve learned leaves through the exit in my arse.I think this is due to the fact that when we train everything is brought down to a fun level,but reality is when shit hits the fan it`s rarely an exchange of pleasantries.
when u get used 2 it it will flow automatically stu.. like the mystical switch..everyones got 1 but sum peoples take longer 2 cum on than others…if u get wot i mean…

What an evening for education Sifu 1 has demons possess him i`m sure of it.Havin to knock out close to hundred press ups as punishment for gettin kicked in the arse IS goin to teach me to move my damn feet.At one point i thought i was competing with big dav light sparring till captain sneaky was neeling down behind me, a quick shove from dav and i was on my arse,then kicked in it and another 10 press ups.There might be a bill from the sports centre for building repair after sifu 1 banged it with his back.

Hi all I was looking forward to coming down to Wales once again a big thank you for Sifu Morgan trying to organise a day course it is a shame that people let him down at the last minute I am sure you all would have learnt something new and enjoyed doing so.

I recently stumbled across across a pressure point which nullifies the effect of pressure applied to another pressure point. I was just wondering if there are more of these.I`ll try and find the names of the points i`m refering to so you can try for yourself.
There`s a rumour sifu 1 is actually human as he recently was afflicted with a black eye.
I`d like to point out that he is actually a terminator and so does bleed and stuff,but he don`t break.

To all members and friends of Shin-Ga-Do it has been quite a while since we had a specialist class I have been asked to run one of this date again so with your backing and co-operation I will do so the data is Sunday 5th of July at the Manchester Dojo times for the class is 10,30am to 3,30pm if you wish food and refreshments please inform me, if you can not attend please inform me, if you are attending please inform me, or if you have any suggestions or ideas on what you would like to see on the day by example Weapons, Kempo Ju/ Jitsu, Gung fu, bits from all, please submit your ideas and suggestions. We would also like ideas and suggestions on what food you would like on the day within reason what refreshments within reason if you would like a guest instructor for example karate, Street combat, kung fu. Ju-jitsu, weapons (Nunchacku) (bo staff) and so on I need plenty of notice if you wish a guest instructor so please let me know as soon as possible please support these classes we cannot run them if you do not attend so do your best to get down and have a great day by learning new techniques in weapons(and to see that I am still good-looking and still around lol)
